for this post i have decided that i would use the zone alarm personal firewall which is free to download from their website http://www.zonealarm.com/.
- First if you dont already have the zone alarm firewall you must download it from the website above and also select a place to save the program to, after that is the case of actually installing it.
- Find where you have saved your download and double click the icon to open it, at this point a wizard should appear on screen asking for various commands, you must select which form of windows you are using e.g. windows vista/xp etc.
- You must place a dot in the download and install option in the wizard and click next, the software will now start to download.
- Once downloaded the program will now be ready for installation by clicking next as shown in the screendump below.
- On the next screen you should enter a valid email address so that you can register you version of zonealarm for future updates, now click install
- dont worry if the window disappears it is working correctly. dont try to relaunch the software.
- you should fill out the survey when the next window appears, and click yes when it asks if you want to start the firewall now.
- click no if it asks to start the zonealarm security suite, although it is a free program its a pay site so only enter if you are willing to pay BE CAREFUL!!!
- On the next screen zonealarm says it will scan your computer so that it can auto-configure the necessary coniguration to run on your computer.
- with zonealarm now installed on your computer it will now need to be restarted to work properly, now you should click finish to restart.
- when the computer restarts you will be presented with a video tutuorial
- after the video tutorial you should click finish
- congratulations, zonealarm is now installed and protecting your computer.
